John Stones spent the days of hell last season, when a series of injuries made him wonder if his career might have ended. But then, when entering the last year at Man City, the 31 -year -old center -back was healthy and ready to fight for a position.
“I'm here, I want to stay in Man City because I love this place,” John Stones said when asked about his future at a comprehensive city Man City. “I am here to prove that I am still useful to the club, despite many words in my future. I want to end in a glorious.”
Stones have spent a terrible time to treat serious injuries in the legs, thighs and hams. These evil injuries have made him unable to play since the defeat of Real Madrid in the Champions League in February.
Stones are now healthy and partly of the Man City squad to attend the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. He will play more or less, even if coach Pep Guardiola is still cautious and said that the center -back is not healthy enough to play.
Stones, in the conversation, showed the “eager” to play and he also shared about the disappointment that he suffered when he had too many physical problems. “There have been times when I think that it is all out of effort, especially when I dedicated to football. It was the dark days. I think everyone experienced that time and wondered why it happened,” Stones said.
“I wish everything went in a different direction, but as I said, it was a doubt. We all have gone through different challenges in life and know what to do in those situations, fight or give up? I am a warrior from an early age.”
However, John Stones admitted that injuries had affected him mentally, when working with Man City's medical team to find out why he had such a consecutive injury. “I wish I had an answer but didn't. It was really frustrated,” he said.
“I felt very mentally painful. I had some very bad times in the previous season and they were as long as an endless tunnel, going forever without seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I was not good at the coach and the team.
I was in Man City and played for long enough to know that I could do something else in those times and search for positive things. It was difficult, that was all I had to go through, and I had to learn from that. And I think that will help me stronger in the long run. ”
One thing that made Stones frustrated was that he didn't know why he was injured. “I don't know what the reason is and sitting with a medical team, sports science to find out why,” he said. “Some things cannot be explained and it tortures my spirit extremely because of the deadlock.
Sometimes I wonder why it happened to me? But I have to solve that, move forward and try to adapt to the new situation. So far, I feel amazing and fully healthy. Next season, I have to consider more details about training and how to play to be able to play the whole season. ”
John Stones signed a contract with Man City in August 2016 from Everton in an agreement worth £ 47.5 million under the era of Pep Guardiola, whom Stones considered his father. “He came here and took me to Man City. We went through many scenes of love, amnioticity, joy, wrath,” he said.
Meanwhile, Man City's coach shared: “Stones is a sensitive person. He is an amazing person. I find him suffering because he does not play much. It is important but not sad. But the important thing now is, in the training sessions, Stones are feeling better.”
Stones agreed and added that he was not physically and mentally tired – like many of his teammates in Man City would definitely encounter in this tournament and after such a tired season. “I was injured so badly because I had to work longer and more.
Therefore, from that way, I know the boys have had such a long season in terms of mental and physical. I used to think that dealing with injuries and recovery process is difficult. Now, I have left that and considered this a small introduction before the new season, ”Stones said.
Even so, in the dark days, he had to try his best. He doubted himself and felt that everything was collapsing. However, at that moment, Stones had very good support to overcome adversity.
“My family is the best of me, always standing side by side and always supporting me. Sometimes I feel very lonely when practicing alone and it is a difficult part. Football is a team sport, so if I do not practice with my teammates because in the rehabilitation process is a big challenge. So many things that I have to get acquainted and resolve. I have overcome that barrier.”
Stones are returning to a Man City that is changing rapidly, with 4 rookies this month – including two central defenders, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov – who were bought in January. This has increased the competition that John Stones was ready to face.
“This is a big challenge for all of us. Fight to win a major kick. Fight to win more titles,” he talked about the super healthy competition for positions. “Everything moves in life and in football. The club has to make decisions to change personnel.
So far, they have done great. We want to improve each other's standards every day and continue to promote each other. It is rare in football to have a lineup like us. The good players want the best for each other. That's what we have done for many years and have helped us succeed. ”
