Not long after the death of Diogo Jota, the football world expressed mourning for the player born in 1996. JOTA just understood the honeymoon with his newlywed wife 10 days ago.
On June 22, Jota married a long -time girlfriend, Rue Cardoso in Porto. However, when the sweet honeymoon had just ended, the 29 -year -old star left the wife and three small children after the catastrophic car accident that made him and his younger brother died.
The Portuguese Football Federation said they were “extremely sad” by Jota's departure, and added that he “was not only a great player with nearly 50 caps playing the national team, but also an extraordinary person respected by all his teammates and opponents”.
Jota's death was confirmed by Pedro Proenca, head of the Portuguese Football Federation. He said in a statement: “The Portuguese football federation and the entire Portuguese football is extremely sad at the death of Diogo Jota and André Silva this morning in Spain.”
“Not only is a great player, with nearly 50 appearances for Portugal, Diogo Jota is also an extraordinary person, respected by all teammates and competitors, a person with joy and a good example in the community.
On behalf of the Portuguese Football Federation, I would like to send my deepest condolences to Diogo's family and friends and André Silva, as well as Liverpool and Penafiel, the clubs where these players play. The Portuguese Football Federation asked UEFA to spend a minute of reciting this Thursday, before the match between our national team with Spain at the Euro Women's tournament.
The departure of Diogo and Andre Silva is an unmistakable loss for Portuguese football and we will do everything to honor their heritage every day, “the head of Portugal added.
The Udinese club posted a condolences: “Udinese Calcio's condolences about the departure of Diogo Jota. To the family of players, Liverpool club and all his loved ones the most sincere condolences from the club”.
Famalicao, the team that Jota's younger brother used to also post a condolences: “Famalicao would like to send the deepest condolences about the departure of Andrre Silva, as well as his brother, Diogo Jota. Andre Silva is our player in the 2019/20 season, when he wears the U23 team.
Sporting Lisbon Club condolences: “Sporting Lisbon shows his sadness before the death of Diogo Jota and his younger brother Andre Silva. Deeply condolences to all families in this difficulty.”
Center -back Pepe, a teammate with Jota in Portugal, posted the message: “It was sad when I received the news of Diogo Jota and my younger brother Andre's younger brother.
Although many condolences have been given, up to now, Liverpool's homepage, where Jota has not given any message other than the short line on Twitter: “Liverpool football club is extremely sad at Diogo Jota's tragic departure”.
