MU prepared to receive a significant financial amount after Newcastle reached an agreement to recruit Anthony Elanga from Nottingham for a fee of 52 million pounds.
Elanga is a product of the Man United youth training furnace and left Old Trafford in the summer of 2023, after coach Erik Ten Hag decided he was not quality enough to regularly participate in the main squad. At that time, MU earned 15 million pounds, recorded as a pure profit in the financial record in accordance with PSR's regulations because Elanga was a “homegrown” player.
After moving to Nottingham, Elanga's value skyrocketed thanks to impressive performance. The Swedish player played 38 matches in the Premier League last season, scored 6 goals and had 11 assists, contributed greatly to help the home team win the 7th place and a UEFA Conference League.
