Head coach Ruben Amorim will take advantage of the pre -season stage to determine the priority starting team for MU's upcoming campaign, including the key trio of central defenders.
The preparation process of the season has officially started in Carrington. A number of members of the first team MU returned to the Carrington Training Center on Monday, before the players who had just ended international obligations at the end of last season also joined the army on Thursday.
According to the photos and videos published by MU in the past week, 31 players appeared to practice at different times.
After completing the physical tests in the gym, coach Amorim is currently directly monitoring the training sessions on the pitch. MU's friendly match will take place against Leeds in Stockholm on July 19, and Amorim wants the team to have a strong start.
The pre -season period is an ideal time for the coaches to convey tactical ideas, implement the plan and get closer to the determination of the optimal squad before the new season officially started in August.
Up to this point, MU has only two official rookies, so if there is no additional contract next week, the squad that Amorim used in Sweden will not be much different from the squad to end last season.
Maheus Cunha is almost certainly the main choice at the number 10 left. Meanwhile, the role of left -back Diego Leon is still a question mark in the first season at Old Trafford.
MU is still actively increasing the attack, especially targeting Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) and a true striker. The Red Devils are also looking for a midfielder and a goalkeeper.
However, the defense, especially the center -back, is not an urgent area. Despite breaking up with Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof late last month, MU still has depth in this route. Currently, the central defenders of the first team of MU include: Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.
