If there is a literal market for clubs to sell their players, MU's booth almost no one has bothered.
MU has not been able to sell a player in the summer of 2025. The Red Devils have proudly announced the deal to Barca borrowed Marcus Rashford for the whole season, with all the salary paid by the Spanish club, thereby saving them about £ 14 million in 12 months.
The actual Rashford deal was quite unexpected in late July, after Nico Williams renewed the contract with Bilbao, and Liverpool rejected Barca's offer for Luis Diaz. Rashford is just a “option C”.
At Old Trafford, the previous priority was more recruited than selling people, with more than 200 million pounds that was spent to the new attack trio. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo impressed the debut against Arsenal. CuHa was even voted as the best player of the club.
Currently, MU owns up to 10 strikers in the squad and wants to liquidate 4 people before the transfer deadline on September 1. Rasmus Hojlund, who is named from the list of matches against Arsenal, may soon join the “type of discharge group” with Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
MU has been selling inefficient players for many years, since Sir Alex Ferguson. The previous season's transfer revenue reached 109.18 million pounds, seemingly showing a turning point. But instead, MU is now accompanied by the secret by the opponent clubs ready to wait patiently.
A big problem lies in the salary structure. Casemiro will almost certainly stick to the end of the 4 -year contract that MU gives him in 2022, mainly because of the huge salary of 350,000 pounds/week. The Red Devils even asked up to 4 different intermediaries to find a way to sell casemiro but are useless.
The same situation occurs with Sancho, who came to Old Trafford before Casemiro 1 year. Both Ed Woodward and Richard Arnold have approved these contracts in their dark term. Woodward then filed a resignation after the Super League failed, but still “bought to soothe the public”, typically from the Juan Mata record in 2014.
Arnold is the first summer as the CEO who went directly to Barca to negotiate the Frenchie de Jong. After MU lost to both matches in the season, in which the defeat against Brentford was considered a “generation disaster”, the panic button was clicked. Casemiro and Antony come in that situation.
Sancho is a particularly troublesome case. Chelsea even paid 5 million pounds just to not buy a 25 -year -old player after borrowing him a season full of disappointment. Sancho has not played any Premier League for MU for nearly two years, and has been eliminated from the squad almost throughout the previous season.
There are so many things around Sancho, to the point that some teams have warned MU that they found this club as if they had “distorted information” to lower the player, like writing “suspended sentences” about Sancho.
If it could be denied, it was undeniable that the owner of MU had publicly expressed regret about the Sancho deal. Sir Jim Ratcliffe in March was indicated that Sancho, Casemiro, Antony, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana were the players that MU “inherited” or “paid too expensive”. In an ideal scenario, MU sold all 5 people in the summer.
According to some sources, Amorim's frank, even tough approach has made MU lose money. Hojlund is the latest name that was dismissed after publicly talking about his position, and there was no way to return to Rashford after he responded to an interview that “ready for a new challenge”. Garnacho has burned the bridge to the club when he openly discontented because he was removed from the main squad in the Europa League final.
Hojlund was actually abandoned from the statement that he wanted to stay, just a few minutes after Amorim refused to ensure the future for him, despite the goal that the striker scored against Bournemouth in Chicago. The transfer value of Hojlund is now more affected by the form rather than speech, while Chelsea is waiting to force Garnacho.
There are things that are out of MU's control. Tyrell Malacia, a cheap contract after an impressive performance against Ajax during Feyenoord, did not play any match for the club for 550 days due to knee injuries, and was replaced in 4/5 of the main match under Amorim.
The 26 -year -old only kicked the main 5 times during the loan at PSV and will end the contract next year. It is difficult to expect any club to spend money on a left -back only played only 10 matches in 2 years.
Antony would definitely be sold if MU did not pay nearly double the amount of Ajax initially requested by 2022. This winger shone in La Liga and was called back to Brazil, but to avoid losses under the PSR regulations of the Premier League, MU needs to earn £ 32.58 million. In fact, no team is really suitable and willing to spend that number, so MU is forced to find a compromise solution.
Chelsea is currently the only team to buy Garnacho, after the other three clubs rejected after the thorough appraisal process. Garnacho has proven its ability in the Premier League, but the Blues has nothing to hurry. Chelsea understands that MU's “booth” is sluggish, so they just wait until the market is over to “hunt for sale”.
After all, the real side is still MU!
