Since when Old Trafford – Football Cathedral we still proudly call the “theater of dreams” – become a fertile ground for the anti -bliss? Ever since a litter of players, not enough hair to dare to put themselves on par with the club? The question hurts in the hearts of the Red Devils lovers, because the answer seems to come from the names we have cherished and expected.
Most recently, Alejandro Garnacho – the boy whose whole Old Trafford has cheered his name whenever he raging on the corridor. At the age of 21, the new feet were wet on the team for a few seasons, and had previously spent time practicing in Carrington, which had nurtured the talents and dreams of generations. However, Garnacho coldly offered the claim: “Or I go to Chelsea, or I will stay here and don't play football for 6-12 months.” A saying like a knife swirling into the belief of the fans.
Try thinking: Garnacho's contribution to MU is still a few booming moments, a few beautiful goals, but not enough to put him on the pillar, the god and there are thousands of lights away from the club's legendary position.
Yet this “silver -headed guy” chose to turn away, not to find a new challenge in a remote tournament, but to join Chelsea – a direct opponent in the Premier League. It is no longer a simple transfer, but a betrayal act. If possible, I hope the Board of Directors MU will be strong – let Garnacho go to the U21 team, let him sit and play for a year, lose the opportunity to attend the 2026 World Cup. That is the price worthy for this insolence.
But Garnacho is only a floating part of the iceberg. Under that cold ice layer, Jadon Sancho was playing a “Chi Pheo guy” at Old Trafford. Refusing to leave, not reducing salary, just waiting for MU to compensate for the contract. Sancho is not afraid to sit out, do not need to play, and have no desire to attend the 2026 World Cup.
A player once made us dream about signing a contract with a huge fee of 72.5 million pounds, now it becomes a great burden. He knew he had only 1 year of contract and was ready to leave in the form of freedom next year, causing MU to lose. This is no longer a formal story, this is a blatant disrespect for the club. And in fact, Sancho did it many times – a bad personality.
Antony – a blockbuster contract that has been absolutely trusted by Erik Ten Hag – is now disappointing us. Do not accept any other offer, resolutely wait for Betis, even colluding with the Spanish team to make it difficult for MU. This is the scenario that we used to think only in small teams that are not enough to deter, but now it is happening right at Old Trafford – the place once considered a symbol of discipline, pride and honor.
All three cases exposed a sad truth: MU's power on his own player is eroding. Those who wear the Red Devils no longer see it is an honor, but considering it as a hired contract, can break at any time if not satisfied. And more frightening, they are not afraid of the consequences. Because they believe that MU will give in, will find a “smooth” solution to avoid communication problems. But if we continue to be soft, we will witness even more counterproductive.
As a manucian, I didn't accept that. Old Trafford could not be a place to tolerate those who despised this shirt. MU needs to restore the reputation, by strict punishment. If necessary, for both Garnacho, Sancho and Antony for a year, so they understand that here, no one is greater than the club. Turn the bench into an expensive lesson, so that anyone who wears a red demon shirt must remember: MU's honor cannot be bargained.
During Sir Alex, anyone with signs of opposition were immediately removed – from Beckham, Van Nistelrooy to Roy Keane. No one is the exception. It was that tough that created a solemn Manchester United. Now, when those standards are broken, we can see the consequences clearly: the player considers the contract as a shield, considering MU as a launcher to bargain and blackmail.
I know that modern football is more complicated than before. The player has greater power, the media and the representative manipulate more. But a club like MU cannot be bullied. We cannot talk about “rebuilding” and tolerating the vandalism from within. A strong team is not only built with goals and titles, but also by discipline and respect.
If MU wants to return to the peak, the first thing is not to buy more superstars, but internal cleaning. Remove ungrateful people, no matter who it is, how much, how many goals have been scored. Only when wearing a red shirt with loyalty and longing, will it deserve to stand in the Red Devils squad.
We – fans – can endure losses, empty seasons. But what could not endure, is to see those who wear the pubic shirt and the soul belongs to another place. It was time for Ruben Amorim and his superiors to prove to the whole world: at Old Trafford, honor and pride not to bargain. And anyone who betrayed this shirt, will have to pay expensive!
