Kenneth Schmidt The full name is Tan-kenneth Jerico Leka-Schmidt. He was born on June 3, 2002 in Freiburg, Germany. Schmidt has a German father, his mother carries two Madagascar and Vietnam blood.

From an early age, Schmidt had a passion for the ball. He used to have a time to train at the local team Emmendingen, before joining Freiburg’s youth academy in 2017.

Also from here, the journey to become Schmidt’s professional player began. After a few years of eating, the 22 -year -old center -back has a youthful debut, also known as Freiburg II in 2020. In the 2020/21 season, Schmidt has 6 appearances for Freiburg II, contributing a part to help the home team win the Southwest region.

That is the starting point for the journey to assert Schmidt himself. Right in the next season, in the 2021/22 season, this Vietnamese blood center -back became the mainstay where Freiburg II’s defense, 28 times at 3. La Liga – German third playground.

By 2022/23 season, Schmidt had 22 more times on Freiburg II. The outstanding progress helped him be rewarded with one of the first team Freiburg, with a total of 13 appearances, including 10 times in the Bundesliga and 2 in the Europa League.

In January of this year, Schmidt was borrowed by Freiburg to Hannover with an agreement lasting 18 months. Unfortunately, so far, the center -back in 2002 has never played in Hannover shirt – the club competes in the German second division.

The historic moment came to Schmidt on March 17, 2023, when he debuted the first team Freiburg in the match against Juventus in the eighth round of Europa League. 2 days later, Schmidt was released in the Bundesliga, on the pitch in the last minutes in the 1-1 draw with Mainz. He was first kicked in the Bundesliga on April 1, 2023, played 59 minutes, contributed to help Freiburg Hoa Hertha Berlin 1-1.

At the national level, Schmidt played for the German team continuously at levels from U18 to U21 with 19 matches including official and friendly. Especially at the highest young level, U21, the young center -back has 2 times to the field within the European U21 qualifying round, which is considered an official tournament in September and October 2023, meeting Kosovo and Bulgaria.
