The Spanish media reported that Liverpool owner Fenway Sports Group (FSG) is intending to invest in Getafe. If successful, they hope Getafe will be a “golden egg” to help me earn a lot of profits.
According to Marca, FSG has conducted a thorough Getafe research. They are attracted to the stable position of the team in La Liga. In addition, Getafe is based in Madrid, building a new modern stadium and the tradition of training and exporting many talented players also creates an irresistible appeal to The Kop.
When the upgrade process is completed, Getafe's Coliseum Alfonso Perez yard will be fitted with roofs to cover the entire stands, instead of just a part of the current part. Notably, Angel Torres president is also looking to sell Getafe. However, he is still expected to be in the position for at least the next 2 years. In the recent interview, Mr. Torres himself shared: “I promised my family that, after the new yard of the club came into operation, I would leave. During the administration of Getafe, I will look for people who are capable and responsible to prepare to replace my position.”
Through the above sharing, it can be seen that Mr. Torres's plan is a barrier for FSG, if this group wants to “fight quickly, win quickly”. FSG has become the owner of Liverpool since 2010. Not only pouring capital into Liverpool, the Group has done the same thing with many other sports clubs, such as Boston Red Sox (baseball), Pittsburgh Penguins or RFK Racing (Nascar racing).
Over the past decade, FSG has helped Liverpool have achieved many successes. Even so, the Group was still criticized by a part of Liverpool fans for having wise moves.
Improving the situation, FSG is learning the development model of Man City owner, City Football Group (CFG). This is a very “cool” corporation when investing in clubs around the world, including Girona in La Liga.
FSG has tried to acquire Malaga
Before the attention of Getafe, FSG used to sought to acquire another Spanish team, Malaga. However, that plan was not successful due to Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) faster than them. QSI is an investment group with powerful financial potential “back” for PSG. Thanks to being backed by QSI, the representative of the new French capital, who successfully conquered the Champions League for the first time.
