Coach Pep Guardiola revealed in an interview with GQ Hype (Spain) that he would rest after finishing the time to lead Man City, to focus on himself and health after many years of working with high intensity.
“I am sure that after this period with Man City, I will stop. That has been decided, even very sure. I don't know how long I will take a break: 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, 10 or 15 years, I really don't know. But I need to stop to focus on myself, for my body,” the Spanish strategist started.
Last season, Man City experienced the empty season of Toan Hang – what was almost rarely happened to the clubs under the guidance of Pep. He admitted: “We should have changed more players. But saying that after everything happened, it was easy … There were long months that we did not win any match, that had never happened. But then life would put you in our position.”
Despite realizing the need to “learn how to stop”, Guardiola also talked about the heavy responsibility of a coach: “You are responsible for many people who trust you, love you: players, presidents, sports director …”.
Pep compared the current situation with the time of retirement when he was a player, when he decided to stop because “his mind was unbearable”, even though he could still kick.
