Carlos Cordeiro, FIFA adviser and former US President of the United States Football Federation (USSF), is also announced as a senior adviser for this “special forces”.
In a post on social network Truth Social, President Trump wrote: “I know Andrew and Carlos will work tirelessly to turn the 2026 FIFA World Cup into an unprecedented successful success.”
In March, Mr. Trump signed a executive decree with FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, officially establishing a task force for the 2026 World Cup.
According to the White House, the task force – president – will supervise the preparation for FIFA Club World Cup held in the US this summer, as well as the 2026 World Cup, held in the US, Mexico and Canada next year.
Vice President JD Vance will be the vice president, while CEO Andrew Giuliani will run the daily activities of this force.
Giuliani (39 years old) used to hold the position of Deputy Director of the public contact office and special assistant of the president in Mr. Trump’s first term. He was also a professional golfman, then elected New York Governor in 2022 but failed.
Cordeiro (69 years old) was the position of USSF from 2018 to 2020, before resignation for being responsible for the decision of the Federation when criticizing the US women’s team in a legal document that was condemned by the public to discriminate sex.
The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, with the final held at MetLife in New Jersey.
