After the 2024/25 disaster season, coach Ruben Amorim still shows the calmness and strong belief in the journey of Renaissance of the team. His recent statements showed a steadfast, drastic but optimistic training idea in accordance with the spirit of a reconstruction.
“I want to lead MU for 20 years”
In an interview with the British and Portuguese press, Amorim was inspired: “I want to stay here, lead Manchester United for 20 years. That's my goal.”
The Portuguese strategist did not hesitate to admit great ambitions, and showed his attachment to the club even when the team was in crisis. According to him, Man United is still a “special place”, possessing unmatched elements such as tradition, enthusiastic support from fans and financial potential strong enough to rebuild from the beginning.
Amorim shared that in the first few weeks of the summer, he realized the positive change in the team: “Now I no longer have to check whether the player has breakfast at what time, how to recover or who is late. I can focus on training, because everything is in the framework.”
Establishing an internal leadership group of 6 players
One of the decisions of Amorim's imprint is the establishment of a “leadership group” of 6 key players to replace him to monitor internal matters. The 6 names selected are: Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot, Tom Heaton and Noussair Mazraooui.
He explained: “I told them: 'From now on, the small things in the dressing room are your job. I want you to manage the spirit, concentration and professionalism of the team. I cannot do it all'.”
