Mohamed Salah became the first player three times to win the best player award of the year of the Professional Player Association (PFA), surpassing those who have won the award twice, Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry and Gareth Bale when he won the 2025 Award.
Salah continued to overcome a series of candidates in the nomination such as Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Bruno Fernandes (MU), Declan Rice (Arsenal) and Alexander Isak (Newcastle) to be voted by the professional player association (PFA). He was honored to receive this title in 2018, 2022. Meanwhile, striker Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa was chosen as PFA's best young player. This is the first player of the Villa Park team to win this award since the case of James Milner in 2010. Salah received the PFA Cup at the awards ceremony at the Manchester Opera House on Tuesday (August 19). This is a worthy reward after Salah scored 29 goals, helping Liverpool win the Premier League last season.
“I look back on myself now – a guy from Egypt, reaching the highest level and making history today. That's what makes me extremely proud,” Salah said when he was awarded at a ceremony in Manchester.
Salah's goal in Liverpool's 4-2 victory over Bournemouth in the opening match of the 2025/26 season last Friday, raising the total number of his goals in the Premier League to 187. This brought him to the fourth place in the ranking of the greatest strikers in history with former Newcastle and Man United, Andy Cole.
Before setting a record, Salah was one of the 7 players who won the Best Player of the year of PFA. In addition to Salah, the list has Henry (2003 & 2004), Ronaldo (2007 & 2008), Bale (2011 & 2013), Kevin de Bruyne (2020 & 2021), Alan Shearer (1995 & 1997) and Mark Hughes (1989 & 1991).
