In December 2014, only 6 months after the UK at the bottom of the table at the World Cup, Dan Ashworth and Gareth Southgate announced the “England DNA” at St George's Park. It sounds abstract and cliché, but it is the basis for great things 10 years later.
Ashworth is the excellent talent development director at FA and Southgate has just completed the first year as the coach of the U21 Nam Anh team. DNA is a general term for their “approach to development of excellent players”, applicable to England by age group from U15 to U21 men and U23 women.
It has outlined vision for future players to excellently on four “angles” – techniques/tactics, physical, psychological, social – and include five core factors. The best methods for the coach to be sketched, expectation for the “future player of England” are listed and FA said it will provide comprehensive support.
They interpreted how age groups should play, this will be “the strongest proof for England's DNA”. A concentration is placed in two -way understanding of heritage and culture in an increasingly diverse country.
In the following decade, Nam Anh Tel had the most stable success, continuously reached the Euro finals in 2021 and 2024, and a World Cup semi -final in 2018.
The women's team even did better than that, won the Euro championship at home in the summer of 2022, won the runner -up at the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, and then successfully defended the Euro championship in Switzerland this summer. The concept of 'true England & RSQ
