In April 20022, Kota Takai had a professional debut in the Kawasaki Frontale club at the age of 17.
And on Tuesday, his speedy promotion journey for 3 years had the next leap, when the deal moved to Tottenham was officially announced. Although only 20 years old, Takai had 4 caps on the Japanese national team and had the opportunity to participate in the World Cup squad next summer.
So how did the boy born in Yokohama – who had just stepped through the teenager in September last year – could reach one of the biggest tournaments in Europe in such a short time?
The beginning of all
In April 2022, the AFC Champions League Elite was still held at a single location despite the pandemic that has passed for 2 years. Kawasaki then played in Group I was held in Malaysia. In the tour, the club carries some promising young talents, including Takai.
In the opening match against Ulsan HD, Takai was on the bench and not used.
